Satechi Reveals Stand And Hub For The New Apple Mac Mini M4

0

I’ve been using a Satechi Stand & Hub for my Mac Mini M2 Pro ever since I bought it around 18 months ago. However, the size of the new Mac Mini M4 has shrunk and the old stand is too big to sit under the new Mac Mini. So, what’s a Mac Mini owner to do?

Well, the answer came today with the announcement by Satechi that it will be unveiling a Mac Mini M4 Stand& Hub with SSD Enclosure. Designed exclusively for the 2024 Mac Mini M4, this Stand & Hub matches the size and look of the new Mac Mini M4 perfectly. It offers storage expansion, legacy ports and front-facing connectivity, all in a matching aluminum case.

The Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure includes a slot for up to M.2 NVMe SSD storage up to 4TB, plus 10Gbps transfer speeds for rapid access to files and media. The new stand also promises compatibility with legacy and modern devices thanks to the inclusion of USB-A ports which are missing from the new Mac Mini M4. The USB-A ports can be used for connecting favorite legacy peripherals with front-facing ports that offer easy access to essential peripherals.

The new Satechi M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure has been designed for high performance by using patented Satechi technology that optimizes the airflow and preserves wireless signal strength while enhancing reliability. Satechi claims the aluminum design, combined with heat-dissipating vents, will ensure peak performance with a sleek and minimalist aesthetic.

The main advantage when using one of Satechi’s Mini Stand & Hubs with SSD Enclosure is the ability to add up to 4TB of fast NVMe SSD storage to a Mac Mini. Apple charges a fortune for extra onboard storage, but with the Satechi Stand & Hub, you can buy your own M.2 NVMe SSD for a fraction of the price that Apple charges for storage. And although the speed won’t be quite as fast as the SSD on the Mac Mini’s motherboard, it will still be fast thanks to the Satechi’s 10Gbps transfer speeds.

I haven’t had a chance to try out the new Apple Mac Mini M4 yet so I don’t know how hot it runs. My Mac Mini M2 Pro is fairly cool and I’ve not even heard the fan working yet, but in case the new Mini does run a little hot, the Satechi M4 Stand & Hub has specially designed heat-dissipating vents to ensure optimal performance during intensive tasks while preserving wireless connectivity for uninterrupted use, something the previous Mac Mini stand from Satechi was accused of, although I didn’t notice any Wi-Fi issues with mine.

Pricing & Availability: The Satechi Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure and Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub will be available from Spring 2025. Customers can be among the first to experience the next generation of desktop innovation by signing up today at Satechi.net to receive exclusive updates, notifications, and a 20% discount on the price which has yet to be confirmed but I would guess around $100.
