Badhon has shown her support not by just her words but being actively present on field

With the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the country rejoicing as a result, a lot of celebrities have come out with statements of support.

Azmeri Haque Badhon has been a rock for students from early stages of the movement. She has shown her support not only by her words but being actively present on field, fighting for their rights. Even after the resignation, she has remained vocal about the cause. Posting about all the commendable things that the students are doing right now in Bangladesh.

She recently shared photos of students cleaning the National Parliament area after yesterday’s mobbing. She also posted about Madrasa students and local Muslim leaders protecting temples, churches and other places of worship.

Actress Zakia Bari Mamo posted her resignation letter to the ‘Actors Equity Bangladesh’ on Sunday where she states “Equity means justice, fairness. It is not personally possible for me to accept compromising justice under the guise of equity. As an artiste, I am accountable in my place of responsibility. From that responsibility, I have resigned from Actors’ Equity Bangladesh”

She further clarifies “I hope that our beloved organisation, which represents actors and actresses, will stand tall with integrity, guided by conscience and a sense of duty to the nation.”

Even superstar Shakib Khan, who had largely remained silent during the movement, posted a statement to support the protestors and to advice the nation stating, “The wishes of all involved in the anti-discrimination student movement have been fulfilled. The protesting students won. But the joy of this victory should not dim the love and responsibility towards our country and its people.”

He advises, “We all need to be more empathetic right now. It should be remembered- what comes first is our country, the people and then the resources. Irrespective of race, religion, caste, all people of the country should be protected- let us continue that effort. It is our moral, social and national responsibility.”

Other celebrities chimed in with a positive tone, welcoming reform. Most notable among them was Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, who has been constantly posting words of encouragement to the students since July 17.
