Apple Stays Away From Black Friday’s MacBook Pro Sales
With Black Friday approaching, many in the Apple community would be looking forward to the offers Tim Cook and his team would present to the world. While Apple has traditionally offered store vouchers instead of a direct discount on the sticker price, they provide better value for money when a consumer wants to bundle some accessories alongside their new hardware, such as the latest MacBook Pro laptops.
Apple Will Not Offer M4 MacBook Pro Discounts
Unfortunately, Apple isn’t offering anything for the current jewel in the crown. Anyone shopping for one of the new MacBook Pro laptops that come with the M4, M4 Pro or M4 max chipsets will be disappointed; not only are there no discounts, there are no vouchers either.
The closest you will get to a discount on the price is through Apple’s trade-in program. The company is highlighting this option through social media advertising, but it is only open to those trading in Apple hardware… there’s no trade in offer for a Microsoft Surface Laptop here.
Nevertheless, those looking for a Black Friday discount on the highest specced MacBook Pro with the latest Apple Silicon will find unexpected surprises during the holiday of discount deals. There are M4 MacBooks out there with discounts on the sticker price.
M4 MacBook Pro Discounts Can Be Found Elsewhere
US Amazon customers can pick up discounts on various specifications of the latest MacBook Pro laptops. For example, the entry-level M4 MacBook Pro with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage has a $200 discount, the 14-inch M4 Pro MacBook Pro with 24 GB of RAM has $250 off the 512 GB storage model and $300 off the 1 TB model, as does the 16-inch M4 Pro with 24 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.
Amazon also offers an extended returns policy during the holiday season, so you have until 31st January 2025 to decide if the laptop is for you.
Buying your MacBook Pro from Amazon (or, in fact, from any third-party retailer) does not negate the advantages of AppleCare+. You can still purchase these extended warranty and tech support plans directly from Apple, as long as you purchase your machine new.
That offers consumers the best of both worlds—a discount on the latest MacBook Pro hardware and the reassurance of AppleCare+ and support from the manufacturer.
Apple Wins No Matter The MacBook Pro Discount
It also offers the best of both worlds to Apple.
Given the interest in the new MacBook Pro models, coupled with the company’s reluctance to offer price cuts during Black Friday, many consumers bought their new laptops confident that the price they paid would not be gazumped in the Black Friday week. And it hasn’t been gazumped, at least by Apple. After all, Apple has a reputation to keep up regarding the perceived status of the Mac platform tied to the higher price points it uses.
Yet Amazon’s discounts should help sway consumers sitting on the fence about buying new hardware, whether they will be updating to a new Mac or joining Apple’s ecosystem for the first time.
