Apple announces iPhone 16 series
The first Apple Intelligence features will be available in beta next month as part of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, with additional features rolling out over the following months.
Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 lineup at its “It’s Glowtime” event on Tuesday. The iPhone series includes four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Max, and Apple has focused on its interpretation of AI as Intelligence this year.
Senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak, said, “Customers who want the best iPhone possible can benefit from this major advancement… while enjoying exceptional battery life at the same time.”
The iPhone 16 series uses Apple Intelligence to harness the power of Silicon and Apple-developed generative models to understand and create language and images, work across apps, and use personal context to simplify and speed up everyday tasks. In addition to the updated lineup, Intelligence will also be available on the iPhone 15 lineup, iPads and Macs with M1 or later.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 16 lineup begin September 13.
Also updated its smartwatch lineup with the Watch 10, which has a slightly larger screen than previous versions. The event will also see the launch of the AirPods 4. This time, the non-professional version of the AirPods will have active noise cancellation. They has also changed the charging port from Lightning to USB-C, leaving the Magic Mouse and iPad 10 as the only two products that still use the proprietary port.
Also announced a new Qi2-certified MagSafe charger that enables wireless charging at up to 25W.
